This paper aimed at probing into issues about gifted females from the perspective of its importance and the contribution L.S. Hollinworth had made. It then discussed 1) the characteristics of gifted females‚ including comparative studies with average females and with the opposite sex; 2) identification of gifted females‚ including early identification‚ its methods and the errors of measurements; 3) factors influencing the career development of gifted females‚ such as social pressure‚ cultural expectation and the dilemma of marriage and career; 4) approaches toward counseling gifted females‚ which covers psychological and career counseling‚ education plans‚ role models‚ mentorship‚ parent education‚ support groups and seminars. Summing up‚ the author talked about the future prospects and anticipations for gifted females. |
