This paper is a transcription of the 1991 International Festival and Seminar on Special Talents‚ which talks about cultivating the artistic potential of the disabled. In this paper‚ the main speaker‚ Dr. Wu-Tien Wu‚ not only presents the main points of two key note speeches but compiles 10 group discussion papers. The discussions cover a broad range of topics‚ which generally fall into two categories: using art as therapy and tapping the artistic potential of the disabled. The speech pointed out the difficulties of identifying and cultivating the special talents of the disabled. The speaker encouraged all educators of this field by listing some of the most well-known‚ outstanding persons with disabilities in history. |
