Typical gifted students and students with learning disabilities share the following similar weaknesses: 1) gifted students with learning disabilities are weaker in auditory memory‚ range of attention and sense perception‚ which affect their performance on IQ tests. 2) gifted students with learning disabilities sometimes show similar characteristics with gifted students‚ such as clumsiness and tardiness in doing their subject assignments. 3) gifted students with learning disabilities tend to have weak self-perceptions and hold negative appreciation toward themselves. 4) Feeling helpless‚ if not counseled‚ they tend to exhibit behavioral problems such as hostility‚ distrust and self-abandonment. 5) some researches show that gifted students with learning disabilities are very creative in non-academic fields. |
