This speech was talking about the status of gifted education in the United States. A series of approaches were discussed‚ such as 1) changes of society in the United States‚ 2) the relationship between the social changes and gifted education‚ 3) educational goals for competitiveness of the United States‚ like two conflicting theories of "excellence" and "equity‚" 4) dispute on influence of genetics and environment on gifted education‚ 5) educational changes in the United States (i.e. what did the education in the United States provide for‚ by example of problem-based approach teaching)‚ 6) differentiation of gifted education programs into three fields: learning environment‚ curriculum content‚ and practiced skills‚ 7) current status of revolutionary gifted education‚ and 8) future trend and perspectives of gifted education. |
