Both Gallagher (1982) and Renzulli (1985) argued for the independent study as an activity best for the gifted. From the researches on characteristics of the gifted‚ the teaching curriculum and material the gifted need are those having a specified dimension in depth in learning content‚ procedure‚ result‚ and environment‚ so as to meet the need of the gifted. Independent study is a learning activity suitable for the gifted. This paper attempted to introduce the meaning and the procedure of independent study‚ the role and responsibility of the guiding teacher‚ the fundamental principle and the practicable way of independent study. |
