This article is a brief introduction to gifted education in Russia and Brazil. Taking an utterly different approach from the US‚ Russia set up special schools for gifted education. The article has introduced special schools in several fields‚ including language‚ math/physics‚ music/ballet/art‚ kinesiology‚ acrobatics/variety shows‚ and talents in different disciplines. The Brazilian school system‚ on the other hand‚ offers several programs for gifted students‚ including Scientists for the Future programs in Sao Paolo‚ programs for disadvantaged gifted students offered by the Minas Gerais and Jose Carvalbo Foundation‚ and special enrichment programs within regular public education programs. |
