摘 要 |
The author points out the fact that "gifted" and "disabled" coexist. In terms of normal distribution theory for human intelligence‚ there are equal chances of giving birth to gifted and talented but disabled children and non-disabled ones‚ that is‚ 3~5% of the disabled are gifted and talented. As mentioned in the article‚ many gifted and talented individuals never achieve success in life. The main reason is that greater environment has yet to accommodate their needs. For example‚ people around disabled individuals may have low expectations for them‚ or provide little acceptance and they establish career and academic standards that may very well obscure gifted qualities and talents as early as in initial examinations. The author then talks about relationship between the psychological characteristics and achievement motivation among the gifted but disabled individuals. In the end‚ the author encourages the public to discover these "rough diamonds" and shape them into something valuable. As for environment‚ the author urges the public to provide "minimal limits" and "maximum development‚" as well as psychological counseling. |
