The paper talks about four issues: reasons for developing gifted personnel‚ reasons for developing gifted students‚ gifted programs for developing thinking skills and cultivating teachers for gifted education. The paper firstly highlights the cultivation of teachers as the key to solving the problems concerning gifted education in the 21st century. On the other hand‚ we should not expect gifted students to contribute to the society without providing suitable education for them. We should also offer forward-leaning prospective for the gifted to deal with the changes in the future world. (This paper is a transcript of the summer seminar on gifted education in 192001/) |
